Tapware trends to focus on in 2021

The perfect tapware, like the right piece of jewelry, can elevate and alter the whole appearance of your kitchen or bathroom, whether you’re planning a full-scale remodel or a simple upgrade.

If you want to make a tapware style statement in your kitchen or bathroom and keep up with the latest interior design trends, it’s time to step out of your comfort zone and explore the wide range of styles, finishes, and colors now available. While chrome tapware has long been the go-to option for many home renovators, especially those on a tight budget, it’s time to step out of your comfort zone and explore the wide range of styles, finishes, and colors now available.

Sussex’s director, Vanessa Katsanevakis, walks us through four trends that we can expect to see more of in both bathrooms and kitchen tapware for the rest of this year and next.

While brass tapware is by no means a new trend, its popularity is expected to continue to grow in 2021 as a result of its beauty and flexibility.

According to Kate, “we’ve watched this trend gain traction over the past 18 months, and it shows no indications of slowing down.” ‘Wabi-sabi’ or rustic, beachy aesthetic may be achieved by using living brass finishes in a room, and they look especially beautiful when combined with other natural finishes such as marble and wood.’

Brushed Nickel

Brushed nickel tapware has a classic appearance while still feeling modern and a little bit glamorous, without being excessively ‘blingy’ as brass or brushed gold tapware may be. Brushed nickel tapware is available in a variety of finishes. It also works in almost any environment.

Despite the fact that it will never go out of style, Vanessa believes that it will be a staple tapware trend in 2021 because it contrasts so well with terrazzo tiles, which will no doubt continue to be fashionable for the foreseeable future.” It’s a seamless mix of the two, with brushed nickel being muted enough not to overwhelm any textures or patterns with which it’s paired.”

Matte white tapware elevates the traditional elegance of a white kitchen or bathroom even further. In Vanessa’s opinion, “a seamless environment in which all components melt into one another is an exquisite style that mirrors fashion’s current preoccupation with tone clothing and neutral colors.”

A matte white tapware appears particularly striking when juxtaposed with black or grey elements, and the monochromatic style works well in rooms with a more minimalist theme or atmosphere.

Despite the fact that this is a style that is equally at home in the kitchen and in the bathroom, Vanessa warns that when working with such a muted color palette, the architectural lines of a tap become essential, so be careful when choosing the appropriate form for your area. Tapware with a textured surface

The use of textured and patterned tapware in both kitchens and bathrooms is becoming increasingly popular in the same way that earthy, organic colors and natural finishes are becoming increasingly popular in interior design. This trend is intended to create a bespoke, handcrafted look in both kitchens and bathrooms.

“Textured tapware is simply another manifestation of the larger shift towards the handmade and the one-of-a-kind,” explains Vanessa of the trend toward texture. “This year’s ISH tapware exhibition in Germany featured a lot of texture, particularly on the handles, which we thought was interesting. In particular, tapware in gunmetal grey or chrome had finely serrated grooves and knurled surfaces, which were especially noticeable. Touchable handles provide a pleasant, tactile finish to the tapware and may also be used to enrich a room by adding an unexpected feature.”

Instead of trying harder, try thinking smarter.

The introduction of smarter taps that work harder into our homes will continue to grow in popularity this year as more of us become more health-conscious. One of the major trends that will continue to increase in popularity is the introduction of smarter taps that work harder in our homes.
